Alpaca Shows

We only got to attend one alpaca show this spring, but luckily some of our animals went to up to 3 shows with our friends at Oak Haven Alpacas. This weekend is the biggest show of the year; AOBA Nationals. This year it is being held in Fort Wayne, IN. This show moves to a different location every year, but this one may be the closest to us that it will come. We were hoping to make down to the show this weekend to check out the vendors and auction, network and to see the 2500 alpacas, but we did have a farm sitter this weekend. We also have a bottle cria right now that is being fed every 3 hours, so it doesn't leave much room for us to venture far from the farm without a sitter. Luckily, we did get to send one of our alpacas, Ashton Stones Jolie Rouge to Nationals with Justin and Cara from Oak Haven. She will show on Saturday morning; I can't wait to hear how she does. She took first at the Best of the US Alpaca Show in Columbus, OH this spring and then took second place at the Michigan Alpaca Breeders Show in Davisburg. At the shows, they have photographers taking pictures and the first place, champion, and reserve champion usually get free pictures. Here is a picture of Jolie from the Columbus show.

We recently just received our professional picture back from the Davisburg show, so I wanted to share that at well. Here are Paisley and I posing. We both look a little messy from walking in the rain unfortunately.
The AOBA Nationals will be the last show our alpacas will be attending this spring. We most likely will not be attending any shows this fall because the Michigan International Alpaca Fest is the same week as my due date and I am sure we will be too busy for shows after that once the baby comes this fall. We may attend the Lama and Alpaca Fest in Lansing Labor Day weekend though if I am feeling up to it. It is supposed to be a larger alpaca show this year than it has been in the past. Stay tuned to hear how Jolie Rouge stands up some of the best alpacas in the nation!

I love your picture with Paisley! :) We are holding our fingers crossed for Jolie in the morning. It will work great because the kids will still be fresh (ie, not bored yet) and will cheer her on.

We have a big thunderstorm here right now. I hope the hot humid weather tomorrow makes the crimp look awesome.
